  They won’t help you and will XXXXXXXX facial expressions, interrogate you, record you without your consent, intentionally trigger you and then laugh in your face. Don’t waste your time.

  Yeah this church is hella culty and has a weird hipster aesthetic in all the businesses they own as well. They run some small non-accredited college attached to a brunch place in town

  I would like to be able to recommend this church as a place of love but sadly, that is not the case in my experience.
  
  I grew up attending Christ Church with my family. When I was 13 years old, I was sexually abused for several years by a man training to be a pastor in the church's seminary program. He was 10 years my senior.
  
  When I was 18 years old, I came out about the abuse. Long story short, I was shunned and shamed by the church leaders, my family was disproportionately blamed for my abuse, and my rapist was defended by the church leaders. Ultimately, my father and I were placed under church discipline while my abuser enjoyed a brief stint in prison (due largely in part to the hearty defense he received from church leaders and other men in the church). After he was released from prison, he returned to church and was welcomed with open arms. The congregation was never warned of his crimes and he went on to reoffend, as I so feared he would.
  
  To this day, the church leaders staunchly defend the way they handled my case. They publicly paint me a liar and a slanderer for sharing my story of abuse and shaming. They continually make attempts to smear not only my own character and reputation, but that of my husband as well.
  
  In the last couple years of my life, I have become a passionate advocate for victims of sexual abuse. It breaks my heart to say that many women who once attended this church have reached out and told me their own stories of abuse within the church. The common thread between them all? Their cases were severely mishandled, their abusers protected, and the women themselves blamed for the pain and suffering the experience -- all because the church leaders are unable to admit their egregious errors and change their system for handling sexual abuse cases.
  
  Attendees of this church, many of whom I love dearly, choose to look the other way, focusing only on their own positive experiences within the church. This complicit behavior sends a loud message to victims everywhere. It says "I do not care enough about your pain to open my eyes and demand change. Your story makes me too uncomfortable, so I will look the other way."
  
  This is not love. This is not Jesus.
